Why an Impact Hub in Ticino?

The Canton of Ticino is the main Italian-speaking region in Switzerland, with 353,343 people living on an area of 2,812 km2. Known for its beautiful landscapes, nature and mild climate, Ticino not only attracts many tourists (a sector that accounts for 10% of the canton’s GDP), but is also considered one of the most innovative regions in Europe (according to the EU’s Regional Innovation Scoreboard 2019), also employing many qualified foreign specialists.

Our economy is based on the tertiary sector, led by some of the best companies in the electrical engineering, fashion and pharmaceutical chemicals industries. With 9 out of 10 companies with less than 10 FTEs, Ticino has a very high number of SMEs, some interesting technology start-ups and many inspired students from its three universities.

Thanks to its strategic location, Ticino also plays an important role on the north-south axes, connecting Switzerland to Italy.

For all these reasons, Impact Hub Ticino will be of great benefit for the sustainable development of our region: by connecting, enabling and inspiring, we aim to support citizens, entrepreneurs, organizations and institutions that seek positive change and want to work together towards a common goal.

At Impact Hub Ticino, our mission is to support sustainable entrepreneurs and innovators. Through offerings ranging from the creation of events and coworking projects, to educational programs, we intend to promote interaction between our members and the different actors on our territory, and create a highly collaborative ecosystem. We believe that through Impact Hub individuals and organizations will be able to collaborate to achieve a more sustainable and regenerative future, where innovation and change are encouraged, where access to expert resources, inspiration and knowledge is made easy, and where communication and connections between diverse and knowledgeable people are facilitated.
