IMPACT CLUB
WHAT'S IMPACT CLUB?
Impact Club is a community of people and organizations that share a vision: to make Ticino a model of sustainable innovation, where businesses not only grow but also create value for people and the environment. Together, we support the growth of startups, businesses, and nonprofits with strong social and environmental impact potential in Ticino.
We connect skills, resources, and perspectives to help impact-driven entrepreneurs turn their ideas into solid and sustainable businesses. We promote business models that combine social and environmental impact with economic sustainability.
Each year, we select a few projects to which we offer networking, mentoring, and targeted growth pathways, designed to support teams, individuals, and organizations based on their stage of development and specific characteristics.
WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM IMPACT CLUB'S SUPPORT?
Impact Club is dedicated to those who aspire to generate positive and systemic change in the local area, combining social and/or environmental impact with economic sustainability. Impact Club is open to:

Individuals with impactful entrepreneurial ideas
If you have an innovative idea that could improve the lives of people or the environment, but don’t know how to turn it into reality, Impact Club is here to help you validate your idea.
Startups that need to design their impact and validate their business model
If you’ve already launched a startup, dedicate time and resources to it, and want to design and clarify your impact, strengthen your business model, and define an effective market strategy, Impact Club will provide you with the methods and tools to take your startup to the next level.

Companies developing impactful products or services
If you own or work for a SME (Small Medium Enterprise) interested in exploring new opportunities through innovative and sustainable projects, Impact Club can support you in the process. We’ll help you structure your value proposition, test its market validity, and develop growth and impact strategies.

Nonprofits wanting to regenerate their impact model
If the nonprofit organization you’re part of wants to, Impact Club offers the tools and guidance you need.

Does your project or idea not fit into the categories mentioned? Don’t worry, write to us at zebra@impactclub.ch, and we’ll be happy to understand how we can help you.
HOW MUCH DO IMPACT CLUB'S PROGRAMS COST?
Although the programs are mainly funded by Impact Club, teams are always asked for a basic contribution, with the possibility of an additional voluntary contribution at the discretion of each project. This approach aims to maximize the impact of the program, allowing more projects to access the different pathways.
ARE THERE SPECIFIC FOCUS AREAS I NEED TO BE WORKING IN?
Impact Club supports projects that aim to have a positive and systemic impact on the local area, regardless of the specific theme. Over the years, we have primarily supported projects in the following sectors: Education, Well-being and Health, Energy, Agriculture and Food, Tourism, Recycling and Circularity, Built Environment, Urban Regeneration, Equity and Inclusion.
DOES IMPACT CLUB HAVE FUNDING AVAILABLE FOR ME?
Each project selected to participate in one of Impact Club’s programs receives a contribution in services of up to 14,000 CHF. This support is made possible thanks to the people and organizations that are part of the Club.

In the past, some Club members, in collaboration with Impact Hub Ticino, have provided loans and donations to projects that completed the "Impact and Business Model Design and Validation" program and demonstrated significant local and systemic impact potential. To strengthen this type of support, we are currently co-creating a new tool to financially support some Impact Club alumni projects using hybrid financial instruments.

Regardless of this, if during the program it becomes clear that your project has strength, coherence, and potential, we will be happy to support you in building a fundraising strategy, helping you better communicate the value of your impact and preparing you for conversations with potential funders.
WHAT DO ZEBRAS HAVE TO DO WITH TICINO?
In the startup world, we often talk about unicorns, referring to companies with goals of exponential economic growth. Unicorns are fascinating, but they are imaginary creatures. Zebras, on the other hand, represent those companies that aim to have a positive social and environmental impact, along with a reasonable economic return. Zebras are real animals, they live in groups and protect each other, collaborating. We believe that Ticino is a very fertile ground for bringing out this type of business. If you feel a bit “zebra”, then you are in the right place! For more information on “zebra” companies --> HERE.
WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY POSITIVE IMPACT?
For us at Impact Club, positive impact is an intentional and measurable change, created by organizations that take responsibility for contributing to a better world. In our small way, we refer to organizations that aim to make Ticino a more cohesive, inclusive, and resilient region in the face of social, environmental, economic, and technological changes. It means building together a sustainable innovation model, where businesses not only grow but also create value for people and the environment.

In an era where words like sustainability or social innovation risk becoming empty marketing terms, we feel the need to go beyond labels. What’s needed is a new narrative of impact: more authentic, more rooted, more systemic.
WHAT IS IMPACT CLUB'S IMPACT STRATEGY?
Our strategy is based on two key references: Olivier Hamant’s concept of robustness and Ilya Prigogine’s concept of islands of coherence. We work to create, strengthen, and connect local projects that can become islands of coherence: entities capable of staying true to their values, even in unstable contexts, and of positively influencing the system they are part of. These islands are interconnected, dynamic, and become concrete examples of change.
We believe that authentic impact arises from a dynamic balance: between systemic vision and local action, between transformative ambition and grounding in the community. It is precisely from this creative tension that our projects take shape.
HOW DO YOU ASSESS THE IMPACT OF PROJECTS?
To evaluate and support impact, we use the five dimensions of the Impact Management Project, analyzing the potential (and risks) of each project. We help teams define their outcomes metrics – tangible and meaningful results – and minimize negative impacts, including unintentional ones, through simple, accessible, and concrete materiality analysis tools.

CUSTOM DEVELOPMENT PATHWAY
This program provides structured support, tailored to individual needs, for those developing an impact-driven project, offering access to strategic resources and dedicated mentoring. The unique feature of this program is its focus on organizations that cannot follow a fixed working rhythm or have specific needs but still require strategic support in one of the following areas:
-
Project identity: Who you are and why

Impact model: Defining and measuring impact
-
Business model: Structuring a sustainable strategy
-
Governance: Improving team management
-
Communication and marketing: Strengthening your visibility
-
Budget and financing: Planning for growth

The duration of the program and the cost are defined together based on an initial meeting where the needs will be outlined.

WHY DO YOU TALK ABOUT NONPROFIT ENTREPRENEURSHIP?
Our programs are aimed at both for-profit and nonprofit projects. When we talk about nonprofit entrepreneurship, we refer to organizations that, despite not having profit-driven goals, choose to adopt an entrepreneurial approach to achieve their impact: they define clear objectives, measure results, develop sustainable economic models, and engage with market dynamics. These organizations don't just aim to "do good," but strive to do so in an effective, strategic, and lasting way.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO HAVE ACCESS TO SELECTED AND ACCESSIBLE LEARNING RESOURCES?
Impact Club's programs are structured with a combination of guided sessions and moments of individual team work, supported by digital resources.
These resources include targeted readings, podcasts, instructional videos, webinars, practical tools, and models to follow, all designed to stimulate critical thinking and the concrete evolution of the project.
All program activities are coordinated and accessible through a dedicated digital platform, allowing teams to work autonomously while receiving continuous guidance.
WHAT HAPPENS IF A TEAM FAILS TO COMPLETE THE PROGRAM WITHIN THE MAXIMUM DURATION?
Each team works at its own pace, and the programs have a predetermined maximum duration. If a team is unable to complete the program within the maximum duration, it can define a "Personalized Development Path" together with the Impact Club team.
I’M NOT SURE WHICH PROGRAM TO CHOOSE…
If you're unsure about which program to choose, feel free to reach out to us or join the Impact Club Open Call so we can recommend the most suitable program for your needs.
HOW MUCH TIME SHOULD BE INVESTED IN THE PROGRAMS OFFERED?
Each program is different, just like every team. The needs, rhythms, and availabilities vary from project to project, and that's perfectly fine. There's no one-size-fits-all formula, but one thing is certain: running an impact-driven business requires motivation, care, and presence. It takes both your mind and your heart.
As a reference, for those participating in one of the three structured programs, the minimum commitment required ranges from 6 to 12 hours per week. This time includes guided learning, online activities, and the in-person meetings outlined in the program.
If you feel that the pace of the incubator doesn't suit your current moment or your team's energy, no worries: Impact Club's Personalized Development Path could be the right choice for you.

HOW DOES THE SELECTION PROCESS WORK?
The selection process of Impact Club consists of several stages, designed to better understand the projects and guide them toward the most suitable path. Here’s how it works:

Preliminary Evaluation
After the call closes, the Impact Club team conducts a first analysis of the received applications based on the information submitted in the online form. During this stage, some projects are selected to move on to the next phase.

In-depth Evaluation via Video
The selected teams are asked to create a brief presentation video. This is to better understand the project, the specific needs of the team, and their motivation. The video serves as an opportunity to present themselves authentically.

Individual Interview
The selected teams are then invited to an individual in-depth interview with the Impact Club team. This is a direct discussion to analyze the project in detail, clarify any doubts, and further explore the team’s specific needs.

Selection and Feedback
A jury, composed of Impact Club team members and industry experts, carefully analyzes the projects that have made it this far and proposes the most suitable path for each based on their stage of development.

The jury is committed to providing each team with constructive feedback and personalized suggestions. For Impact Club, it’s essential that everyone can grow and develop their idea or project in the best possible conditions.

Not being selected for the structured paths is not a failure, but an additional step in your journey: it can open the door to other valuable opportunities, moments of reflection, and initiatives promoted by Impact Hub Ticino.
WHEN WILL I KNOW THE RESULT OF MY APPLICATION?
Everyone will receive feedback within 4-6 weeks from the submission of their application.
